Today saw the under 9's play host to Nuneaton. They were supported by 2 first team players, Adam Greendale and Steve Cross, who gave some pre-match coaching and motivation before playing only their second contact game. It was a tough start for the Lions. Nuneaton were a well coached team who knew their stuff. However, after a few tears and tantrums the Lions came through and rose to the challenge before them. Nuneaton were strong in both attack and defence, but faced some strong tackles from Edward, Sam and Adam. Edward eventually turned his frustration into determination to tackle the opposition down. Adam came through to score the first try for the Lions. Olivia outran the Nun's to score a second try and Edward finally drove through to get one down. Excellent performances came from Flo and Isabelle who took the knocks just the same as the boys and Harry picked himself and carried on driving after an early injury. New recruit Aryan gave a brilliant performance after only 2 weeks training showing great promise.
After a baptism of fire, the Lions came through and made the club proud. Well done!
Thanks also goes to the Nuneaton coaching staff for their sporting professionalism and encouragement for our players. Their children showed great sportsmanship too.
