Lions welcomed Guernsey Raiders to Westleigh Park after Raiders had a fretful journey from the Channel Islands to Blaby.

A tough afternoon for Lions against a beefier Raiders team. Raiders had the advantage of the slope in the first half.
Lions started off attacking the Raiders line, but Raiders soon got the upper hand pushing Lions back into their half of the pitch.
After 15 mins Raider's pressure told when back row Matthew Creber drove over for the first try of the game, with flyhalf Gwyn Parks adding the conversion, giving them a 7-0 lead.
This was followed by Raiders tries by centre Jonathon Dawe and hooker Joseph Callery, with Parks adding the conversions taking Raiders into a 21-0 half time lead.

Half Time 0-21

Lions started the second half with a more positive attitude to the game. On 48 mins Lions winger Roman Priestly-Nangle took a smart interception and completely out paced the Raiders defence to run in Lions first try of the game taking the score to 5-21.

Raiders soon retaliated with a second try for Callery, with Parks again slotting the conversion between the posts to take the score to 5-28.

Again an electric run by Lions Priestly-Nangle gave Lions their second try, with replacement Max Titchener adding the conversion taking the score to 12-28.

Raiders came back at Lions with tries by prop Martinas Dromantas and winger Tony Armstrong, with Parks adding a conversion taking the score to 12-40.

Lions did not give up and showed their application and persistence with a try by replacement Matt Price, with Titchener adding the extras, taking the score to 19-40.

Full time 19-40

Leicester Lions 19 (3 tries, 2 conversions}

Guernsey Raiders 40 (6 tries, 5 conversions)

A competitive game, but Raiders always had the upper hand.

A five point win for Raiders. Lions were one try short of a losing bonus point.
