New Signing - Will Ward

Leicester Lions are pleased to announce the signing of Will Ward.
Will is second row who has substantial National League experience with South Leicester and Nuneaton. Previous to that he played for his local club Melton Mowbray RFC as well as the University of Birmingham. Will represented both Leicestershire and the Midlands at U20 level.

Head Coach Gareth Collins commented ‘‘Will is someone I have always had huge respect for as a player and a person. I first coached him when he was playing for Leicestershire U20’s and I was impressed with his high skill level for a second row forward. He has fantastic hands to go with his aggressive carrying ability. He is also a natural born leader and will come in as an experienced National 2 player now who will be able to drive standards both on and off the pitch.’’

Will commented: ‘‘After playing against Lions for a few season now they have always played an exciting brand of rugby, so when the opportunity came up I was excited to join. It was a hard decision for me to leave South (Leicester) but I felt the time was right for a new challenge, and a chance to see some new clubs, with Lions being moved to National 2 South. It’s also nice to be joining up with Gareth again after he coached me for Leicestershire U20’s.’’
