Lions show their mettle

On a bright autumn morning, Lions welcomed neighbours Vipers, in their first competitive outing of the season.

The Lions team, Cameron, Harry, Isabelle, Charlie, Adam, Edward and Olivia played two games against the Vipers.

The first game saw a rocky start, with the Lions getting to grips with the dynamics of the game and the experience of tackling and being tackled. The second half saw a dramatic reversal, the Lions dug deep, and began to show their commitment, skill and talent. Lions finished strongly putting in a brave performance, that ended in defeat. This was a very important experience, from which the Lions team could draw from.

The second game was a different story with the Lions coming fired up and ready for battle. They put together some brilliant phases of play in attack, and organised in defence. Olivia showed her pace as she ran in a brace of tries; Cameron continued to scythe Vipers down in the tackle; Harry made good yards with the ball in hand; Isabelle showed her strength in the tackle, needing two Vipers to stop her; Ed continued to tackle hard and run them ragged with ball in hand; Charlie showed strength in the tackle and passing from the ground; and finally Adam showed how to run 'Route 1', straight through the defence to score a brace himself. Lions played hard and deservedly ran out winners.

Well done Lions, a determined, exciting and fun morning, great result demonstrating the hard work in training is bearing fruit in competitive games.
