Don’t start what you can’t finish

The age old question of would a Tiger win in a fight against a Lion was answered. After a first half that was as exciting as paint drying the Tigers led by 9.

This is when, during a half time speech from Ben Buxton [Lions Head Coach], which would have had made Maximus Decimus Meridius proud, there was a fire lit in the Lions hearts. They came out of the blocks firing like a Merlin engine out a spitfire, this is where the rugby stopped for the Tigers and the fight back began for the Lions. A come back not seen since the like of Rocky IV, starting off with a kick smack bang in the middle of the post, but Jono [Jonathan Williams] knew this was the cowards’ way of winning a game so decide to miss to keep the Lions integrity.

This miss started a chain of events which somehow ended with William Cyril Bishop the 3rd [Will Bishop] executing a cross field kick which saw Devon Constant on side for once, who would give Israel Folau a good run for his money, on the high ball, collect it and dot it down for 5. Followed by Jono slotting the kick from the touch line for an extra 2.

7-9 to the Tigers with the pride on the hunt for more, with a playing style that resembled a mill grinding flour, the Lions continued to wear the Tigers down. This gave Jono another chance to miss when the Tigers conceded a penalty in their half but for some reason he got it.

10-9 to the pride, all concept of rugby was then thrown out of the window and there were more cards give than at Christmas time. With Darren Peacock Number 2 Dean [Darren Dean] forgetting he was on the rugby field and practicing his tap dancing on a Tigers player ending in a [dubious] Red Card.

All in all a thoroughly enjoyable game to watch and be part of. Full time Lions 10 - Tigers not as many.
