In previous seasons it has been a tough away fixture for Lions at Luctonians, based in the picturesque Herefordshire countryside.

Luctonians started the game well, having the better of the early play. In spite of their pressure they were not able to make the make use of their advantage and had trouble trying to break down the Lions defence.

Luctonians opened the scoring with a penalty by Louis Silver after 22 minutes. Luctonians failed to score add more points, in spite of having the upper hand for much of the first half.

Lions started to make their way back into the game. Lions' hooker Oliver Taylor scored a try in the final minutes of the first half, for Lions to go in at the break with the score standing at 3-5.

Half Time: Luctonians 3 Leicester Lions 5

Lions were a different team after half time and had a purple patch in the third quarter.

Devon Constant, for Lions, drove over in the corner for a try, converted by Jon Boden.

Lions quickly added two more tries in the first ten minutes of the second half. An interception by Luke Veebel, quickly followed by a forceful run by Constant to give him his second try. Boden added the two conversions and Lions had established a dominant position, 3-26, after 50 minutes.

Lions prop Ben Spokes, following a catch at the back of the lineout, added their fifth try on 55 minutes, with Boden again adding the conversion, making the score 3-33.

It looked like Lions might run away with the game, but some stout defence by Luctonians was much to their credit.

In the final minutes of the game, Constant scored his hat-trick try, with ever dependable kicking by Boden adding the conversion, to make the score 3-40.

An excellent away win by Lions.
