Leicester Lions 5: Tries: Devon Constant (10);

This week Leicester Lions were away at Chester, in Cheshire. It was third time lucky for playing this game as the fixture had previously been postponed twice because of an unfit pitch.

The game started off as all action with both sides scoring in the first ten minutes. On 5 minutes Chester hooker, Andrew Baston, went over for a try to open the scoring.

On 10 minutes Lions winger, Devon Constant, sped over to score a try and level the scores at 5-5.

On 16 minutes Baston added his second try for Chester, with James Robins adding the conversion to make the score 12-5.

The remainder of the first half had well balanced play with both sides having opportunities, but neither side adding to their score.

Chester came out at the start of the second half with some exciting backs play, with their winger, Matthew Van Sertima, finishing off the backs play with a try on 41 minutes, to open the score up to 17-5.

On 50 minutes Chester’s wing-forward, George Baxter, followed through a kick forward with Chester’s fourth try of the afternoon, to make the score 22-5.

On 69 minutes Chester replacement Andrew Oakden went through for a try, converted by Robins, making the score 29-5.

In the dying minutes of the game Oakden rubbed salt into the wounds when he went through for his second try of the afternoon to make the score 34-5.

A game in which Lions competed well in the first half, but the game ran away from them after the break.

Full Time: Chester 34 Leicester Lions 5

A good win for Chester, with them taking control of the game in the second half.

Following this week’s games, Leicester Lions are in tenth position in National League 2 North, with Chester in seventh position, but some way behind the group of five dominating at the top of the table.
