A big 5 points for the lions securing N2N league status for next season

Gibbons runs in a hat-trick and performs a brilliant swallow dive, with this end to end fixture finishing in the Lions favour.
Lions finished the first half trailing by 8 points but came out confident in the second half finally securing dominance by playing with the wind.
The weather was clear but the wind was blustery, blowing straight down the pitch giving one team a great advantage in each half. It was Hull who had the wind with them in the first half and they used it smartly with the impressive boot of Hull number 10, Lloyd Hayes.
Hull got the first points on the board through a penalty kick after just 4 minutes. After this, both teams played with high intensity, Hull moving the ball wide a lot and the Lions mainly keeping it tight. This led to an end to end game resulting in a “we score, they score” situation.
Three tries for the Lions through Spokes and two from Gibbons with Greendale adding two from three of the kicks, and three tries for Hull through Murphy, Hayes and Irving with Hayes adding the extras and a penalty kick. With Hulls, Irving scoring just before the half time whistle Lions went in 19-27 down.
Lions must have been given a kick at half time because they came out to play and dominate most facets of play. They used the wind wisely and scored four unanswered tries in 16 minutes through Veebel, Cross, Tuckey and Gibbons completed his hat-trick! Greendale was on fire with the boot slotting three out of four. The game must have been out of sight for Hull at 45-27.
The Hull team were not going to lie down knowing they could get dragged into a relegation battle if they come away with nothing from the game. Lions had a man sent to the bin, Tom Williams for holding on at the ruck and the home team were forced to defend for fifteen minutes, most of which was with a man short.
Hull picked up the pace scoring twice, both through Dorrington. 10 minutes to play and the scores getting closer at 45-39.
Lions laid on the pressure in the last 10 with the majority of the play in the visitors half. Veebel was the one to cross the line for his second try on 75 minutes. Greendale adding the extras putting the game in the hands of the Lions. With a couple of minutes left on the clock Lions were awarded a penalty in front of the sticks. Greendale kicked the 3 points to give Hull no chance of a bonus point.
The game finished with a penalty to Lions, again in front of the Hull posts. The deemed there was still 30 seconds left on the clock so Greendale ran the clock down by adding 3 more points to his tally.
Final Score 58-39.
A hearty performance from Hull made the Lions work for the full game but strength and determination finally paid off for the Home side.
This week Lions travel to Bromsgrove. Bromsgrove have nothing to lose as unfortunately they will be dropping down a league next year so it is expected to be a hard fought game.
